Accessible convergent communications and accessible digital audio-visual systems
This section of the network will address two specific sub-domains within the accessible digital audio-visual systems and accessible convergent communication, namely:
- Accessible interactive digital TV (Inclusive IDTV)
- Total Conversation
Fragmentation, lack of implementation and lack of awareness are three of the main problems that need to be tackled in this area. To this end, we will tackle existing barriers in two main areas of work: inclusive IDTV (including subtitling and audio description); and Total conversation (including applications for emergency services). In addition, WP2 will also work on the creation of a roadmap for accessible digital audio-visual systems and accessible convergent communication.
Co-ordination and facilitation activities will seek to overcome barriers and offer solutions (guidelines, reference implementations, standards, approaches, tools, best practices etc.). Strategies for better co-ordination and implementation will be crafted and guided with all relevant stakeholders with a view to assessing their potential for re-use across the wave iterations to solve EU problems and to assess their potential up take by industry players and practitioners.
